Adoption Policies

Prior to being placed up for adoption, all of our dogs have spent at least 2 weeks in foster care where they undergo extensive observation by our volunteers. Dogs are subjected to various situations, including but not limited to children, other animals, loud noises, vet offices, and sometimes cats so that potential adopters have a good sense of any existing behavioral issues and/or additional training needed before they commit to adopting. Foster parents also work with the dogs on socialization, housetraining, and basic obedience. At a minimum, every dog is vet checked, brought up to date on vaccines, spay/neutered (including puppies), heartworm tested, dewormed, and microchipped.
We ask for a donation at the time of adoption to help us subsidize the costs incurred in rescuing, transporting, and vetting the dogs -- the donation requested for each dog is listed on their individual profile on our website.
In addition, many of our dogs arrive with additional health issues (treatable problems such as heartworm, dental problems, mange, broken bones or torn ligaments). We will fully treat these problems according to veterinarians recommendations before placing the dog up for adoption, at no additional cost to the adopter. Also, if we are aware of any chronic conditions that exist in a dog, we will note it on the dogs individual profile and ensure that the adopter is made aware of the issue prior to deciding to adopt.
**Please note that we will always do our best to ensure that every dog is given a clean bill of health but since each of our dogs come to us without a well known history, we are not able to make any guarantees about the health or temperament of the dogs; we can only go off of our own observations and the recommendations of our veterinarians.

We have included the application on the site as both a Word file and a PDF --both documents are identical, use whichever is easier for you. Once completed, please email the document to thundersangels_yahoo.com (with an electronic signature - no need to sign by hand) -- if you are having trouble with either of the files, please email us and we can copy and paste the questions into an email for you.
