Interaction with dogs: Fuzzy Bear gets along with other dogs when properly introduced - he is still very "puppy-ish" and very playful!
Interaction with cats: Unsure. Bear has not yet been exposed to cats while in foster care - if you have cats in your home, he will need to be tested with them on-leash during your home visit.
Interaction with children: Acceptable. Bear does not live with any small children in his foster home but he has been introduced to children within the foster's extended family and in his neighborhood - he gets along great with them, actively seeking out their attention and affection.
Activity Level: Moderate. Fuzzy Bear enjoys playing fetch with a ball, catching a Frisbee and picking up sticks. Because he is still young, Bear still has puppy energy and needs daily walks and play sessions. When properly exercised he is happy to follow you around and lay at your feet.
Leash manners: Bear is new to foster care so he is just starting to learn leash manners and he is sometimes easily excitable when leashed. He will need patience and repeated practice to master leash walking and his foster family is working on this with him and a professional trainer.
Housetraining: Bear is new to foster care but so far he has done great with his housetraining! Bear can stay crated for 6-8 hours during the workday and has had no accidents. When his foster family is home he is taken outside more frequently.
Health status: Vaccinated, heartworm tested, neutered, dewormed and microchipped.
Major Personality Traits: Fuzzy Bear is VERY people friendly! He is playful, loving and actively seeks attention. He will bond easily with his adoptive family and will be a great addition to any home!
Special Needs: None.
Amount of additional training needed: Medium to High. Bear is still learning basic commands and is catching on quickly. He's a very smart dog though - after only two weeks in foster care he has learned his name, sit and down commands. He should be adopted by someone that has previous dog experience because he will benefit from continued obedience training to address his stress levels with other dogs.
A word from Fuzzy Bear:
"Hi, my name is Fuzzy Bear! As you can see, I am very fuzzy and my face reminds you of a Teddy Bear. I'm an active dog and I love to be outside. I do however, do fine with two walks a day. At night I get tired and I love to lie around, and have my belly rubbed, while you watch TV. But, when I'm ready for bed, I do very well crated through the night. I'm seeking a fenced yard where I can play my favorite games of playing ball and chasing the Frisbee.
I have a good temperament. I love to ride in the car. I sit or sleep in the backseat, and just enjoy the scenery. I am also very good during the family dinner time. I lay in the kitchen, and do not beg for food. I'm quite happy just being in your presence. I do, occasionally, like and ice cube or two though! I am such a happy dog with a GORGEOUS coat - pictures can't do me justice. Can you Help Save Me and give me the family I long for? "
